How we use artificial intelligence

Studies and articles on The Stock Memo are produced with the help of AI systems. We say so because you should be able to tell how the writing was made, and how much weight to give it. Passing that work off as research and drafting done by a person alone would be misleading.

What we use AI for

• Research. AI systems gather publicly available information on companies, industries, and markets.
• Price targets. Looking up published analyst price targets, and working out an average target, is also done with AI systems.
• Text. Drafts of our studies and articles are written with AI systems. That covers structure, argument, and wording. The first complete draft comes from the AI system. Editorial work starts after that draft exists.
• Images. Pictures in page headers are AI-generated symbols. They do not depict real people, places, or events.
• Audio. Where we offer a spoken version, the voice comes from an AI system. It is not a recording of a person.

We use models from outside providers. We do not build our own models, and we do not train models on information about you.

What we do not use AI for

There is no chatbot and no assistant on this site that converses with you. Current prices, trading volumes, and market statistics come from market-data feeds. They are not produced by AI. Price targets are different: those are researched with AI, as described above. We do not use systems that recognize emotion or that classify people by biometric data.

How we treat the result

A single written editorial process is still being put in place. Until that process is documented and can be relied on, we label every study and article as created with AI, instead of sorting pieces into reviewed and unreviewed. Marking too much is the smaller problem.

Treat what you read as a place to start your own research, not as fact that has been checked. That is especially true of figures such as price targets. None of it is investment advice. The Disclaimer applies.
